How to set up a CS Source custom spray

There are plenty of pages you can find through a quick search on the web that will give you a tutorial for doing clever things with css sprays - eg. click here for animated or here for transparent . I'm demonstrating an even more basic method, which is just taking a picture you like and getting it into counterstrike source as your custom spray.

You can create a suitable spray using something as simple as photo editor, which is an optional component of MS office. Open/paste your image and resize it to a pixel size that's a multiple of 2 - ie.

256 X (256,128,64,32,16,8)
128 X (256,128,64,32,16,8)
64 X (256,128,64,32,16,8)
32 X (256,128,64,32,16,8)
16 X (256,128,64,32,16,8)
8 X (256,128,64,32,16,8)

I believe it's always imported as a square anyway, so I'd suggest making it 256x256 so at least it will appear as you're seeing it in your picture editing application and I believe that's pretty close to the maximum possible size.

Save your image as either jpg, bmp, tga or vtf file. I believe the total image size at the moment must be less than 130k. I'd also keep a copy of it somewhere safe, just in case you get attached to it.

Load up CSS and click on Options, then Import Spray. Browse down to the file you just saved.

That should be it!
